Learn about how band classes learn how to read music sheets

Learning to read music is an essential skill for any musician, and high school band classes provide an excellent opportunity to develop this skill. Here are the key steps that a high school band class would typically take to teach students how to read music:
1. Start with the basics: Learning how to use your intrument is a key part of being in band class as it is all about playing your intrument. If you don't know how to use it, then whats the point in joining band class?
2. Introduce sheet music: Once the class has a general understanding on how to use their instrument, they then get sent straight into sheet music, learning what each note it, how to play it, and feedback once they have played the piece for you.
3. Practice sight-reading: Sight reading is the ability to play music on the spot. This means that the intructor will give you a piece of paper with notes on it, and you have to play it perfectly. This will develop your skill on being able to learn sheet music quicker and play it better.
4. Learn through repetition: The teacher gives you more and more sheet music, and teaches you more and more notes, forcing you to learn more and more, refining you into the perfect student
5. Participate in performances: The students will then get a chance to play in front of a crowd. Depending on how they preform, they then can get sent back to the start where they go back to the basics, and find the source of their problems.
