Firstly, students learn how to read music. Reading music is an art. It involves a lot of time and back breaking effort. Once you make it, you can make masterpieces out of a metal item in your hands. Students have to learn how to read music first. They do this by using a skill called sight reading. Sight reading is a form of practicing where the student is asked to play a musical piece based on a first look on the subject. This helps them develop their sense of music reading, helping them play quicker.
Teamwork is another big part of band. Teamwork in band is needed as without one section participating on a musical piece, it sounds terrible. Teamwork is a big skill that you learn when you are part of a band class.
Band class then gets students to appreciate the small things in life. Music class is all about small improvements. If the class learns a new note, they can then play a number of new pieces of music. This makes them want to take the time to appreciate small things like a birds tweets on a Sunday morning.
